The chemical laboratory of WESTERN CENTRAL LABORATORY conducts tests covering a variety of areas:
- Air pollution.
- Water.
- Petroleum products.
- Determination of concentration of salts on metal surfaces.
- Determination of dustiness of metal surfaces.
Air pollution and water analysis
Based on permit No. 1AT-293 ‘To undertake measurements and analyses of pollutants emitted into the environment from pollution sources and pollutants in environmental elements’ issued by the Lithuanian Environmental Protection Agency, the chemical laboratory of WESTERN CENTRAL LABORATORY has the authority to carry out the following:

- Ambient air
Parameters to be determined: dust (particulate matter), nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide. - Air pollutant emissions from stationary pollution sources
Parameters to be determined: gas velocity and volumetric flow rate, dust (particulate matter), nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, ammonia, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, acetic acid, sulfuric acid, alkalis, mineral oils, phenol, formaldehyde, hydrogen fluoride.
- Ambient air
- Water analysis:
- Sewage and surface water
Parameters to be determined: pH, zinc, copper, nickel, iron, manganese, total chromium, total phosphorus, BOD7, permanganate index, suspended solids, chlorides, sulphates, Kjeldahl nitrogen. - Sewage
Parameters to be determined: petroleum products.
- Sewage and surface water
Petroleum products analysis
WESTERN CENTRAL LABORATORY is recognized by Lithuanian Environment Protection Agency as a competent chemical laboratory for petroleum products analysis. The laboratory determines petroleum products in water after separation and examines the following parameters: density, viscosity, mechanical impurities, water content, and flash point.
Determination of concentration of salt on metal surfaces
The Salt detection test (salt test) is designed to determine the contamination of metal surfaces from salt.
WESTERN CENTRAL LABORATORY has the necessary authority to carry out this test – the company’s chemical laboratory is accredited according to ISO 8502-9:2001, ‘Preparation of steel substrates before the application of paints and related products — Tests for the assessment of surface cleanliness — Field method for the conductometric determination of water-soluble salts’.
Determination of dustiness of metal surfaces
The test for the determination of metal surface dustiness (metal surface dust test) is designed to determine the amount and size of dust particles on a metal surface.
WESTERN CENTRAL LABORATORY conducts this test in accordance with the requirements of ISO 8502-3:2017 ‘Preparation of steel substrates before the application of paints and related products — Tests for the assessment of surface cleanliness — Assessment of dust on steel surfaces prepared for painting (pressure-sensitive tape method)’.
