Visual Testing (VT)

Visual testing is a non-destructive testing method designed to detect surface defects, to carry out geometric measurements of the weld and the base metal or the geometric measurements of a product. It is a complex process that requires the measurement and evaluation of many parameters and the use of a variety of devices: rulers, micrometers, welding patterns, magnifying glasses, etc. This method of non-destructive testing is also known as visual inspection, visual tests, and visual control.

Visual testing must be conducted before applying the other methods of non-destructive testing (NDT): ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), penetration testing (PT), radiographic testing (RT), and leak testing (LT). Where visual testing is properly carried out, the application of other NDT methods may no longer be required.

The visual testing services provided by the specialists of WESTERN CENTRAL LABORATORY have the following advantages:

  • Reasonable prices.
  • No prior preparation of the inspection area is required.
  • Possibility to conduct tests before the completion of the production process.
